DANIEL SMITH

Daniel Smith was born in Vancouver, Canada, and currently lives in Düsseldorf, Germany, where he has been working as a choreographer since 2022. He produces his own work for his company Dans Myth, most recently Sparkle Beasts, which premiered at the Theatermuseum Düsseldorf, and Bully, presented at Tanzfaktur in Cologne. His solo performances have been shown at venues including Weltkunstzimmer and Bilker Bunker in Düsseldorf.

He has choreographed and co-directed two collaborative works with director and composer Hans Kaul for the Boat People Project in Göttingen, performed at the Werkraum in Göttingen and the Altes Schlachthaus in Eupen, Belgium.

His work also extends to crossover and commercial contexts, including a site-specific dance performance at Breuninger Düsseldorf for dancers of Ballett am Rhein, as well as dance pieces presented in various club events.

Before becoming an independent creator he was a soloist with many dance companies, most recently with the Ballett am Rhein and received his dance training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in Canada.
